Architecture in the Wild: Exploring the 19th Ward

Join the Landmark Society’s Young Urban Preservationists (YUPs) in exploring Rochester’s architectural history in its natural setting! In this two hour outdoor class, students walk Rochester's largest and most diverse neighborhood, the 19th Ward, experiencing its broad expanse of early 20th Century architecture and early historic sites, like Rapids Cemetery. Students will also learn the names of important architectural styles, basic architectural terminology, and how to approximately date the buildings you see every day.

Please note: This class is an active walking tour (approximately 1.5 to 2 miles on sidewalks and paved paths). Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather and walking shoes.
